Girl Power: Introducing TTA Instructors, Sharron Sugden And Julie Ann Kirkham.

If you want the Logistics Industry to thrive and prosper, then you need to attract more women.

That’s the firm belief of Transport Training Academy. TTA are passionate about the subject and see ourselves as the true advocates for equality within the industry. We believe that attracting more women into logistics will not only go some way to addressing the current imbalance in what has for years been effectively a male-dominated industry, but will also help to safeguard the future for the next generation of workers.

That’s why we’re really proud to have Sharron Sugden and Julie Ann Kirkham working with our team as instructors.

We firmly believe that by having female members on our delivery team, it will set an example to others in the sector and encourage and attract other females into the industry.

Sharron Sugden: Assessor/Trainer.

Sharron joined Team TTA in 2014 having spent over 20 years gaining invaluable experience in the industry in a variety of roles, from Warehouse Supervision to Class One driving. Sharron works as both an instructor and assessor. Sharron can instruct on the various categories of vehicles, Driver CPC and Module 4. She is also our main work-based learning assessor and is developing and enhancing the skillsets of existing drivers in QCF’s (NVQ’s) in Driving Goods Vehicles. Sharron’s other major role is as our principal Apprenticeship Assessor. She is currently developing and training our young Apprentices in Traffic Office, Warehouse and Storage, Driving Goods Vehicles and Logistics Operation. Sharron’s natural nurturing personality makes her ideally suited to this role.

Julie Ann Kirkham: Instructor.

Julie Ann used to work in the NHS as a secretary/PA to a medical consultant. After passing with Girls in Gear in January, 2008, Julie Ann has worked as a female Class One HGV driver gaining valuable experience in a variety of different roles from low-loaders, fridges, Hiab work as well as waste to landfill and sewage works. Julie Ann uses all her experience and is a well-respected and valued TTA instructor on both the driving school (all licences) and Driver CPC.

Female-Friendly Logistics Training.

The logistics industry may have once been a male-orientated environment, but that is no longer the case. For the sustained long-term future of the logistics industry it is vital that both men and women are employed equally in the roles that are available. TTA’s role in this quest is to strive for parity and to positively promote the industry as a viable career option for females.

Changing careers or enhancing your current skills can be daunting. We’ve seen this at first hand and fully understand the difficulties and challenges you are likely to face, but challenges are there to be overcome. TTA’s knowledgeable and experienced team will offer you all the support, advice and guidance you need to see you through each step of your learning journey. We will give you the experience and confidence you need to operate safely and efficiently in a real working environment.

TTA’s mission is to inspire, develop and train individuals to achieve their learning goals. Everybody benefits from this approach as it not only brings an improved professional and positive image to the industry; it also helps individuals conduct their roles safely, responsibly and efficiently.
