Once Upon A Smile Sky Diving Challenge – New Date 12th October

The re-arranged Once Upon a Smile Charity Skydiving Challenge will, weather permitting, finally take place on October 12th at Black Nights Parachute Centre in Lancaster. Much to everyone’s disappointment, the original event, which was scheduled to take place in September, had to be postponed because of the poor conditions. Hopefully this time round, TTA staff members, Lauren Scanlin and David Coupe, will finally get the go-ahead. We’re sure the nerves will definitely be starting to kick in again, but they both know that they’re doing it for the noblest of causes.

So why are Lauren and David taking part in this 11,00-foot parachute jump? Well, they’re trying to raise as much money as possible for the wonderful Manchester-based charity Once Upon a Smile. Once Upon a Smile is the only bereavement charity in the UK to offer a variety of support to families through difficult times, when families are often left to grieve alone with little or no emotional help and support available. Without this support, bereavement can have a devastating impact on family life, particularly on the children.

The charity raises much-needed money to provide emotional, practical and financial support to bereaved families at the time of their greatest need. It’s a charity that’s very close to the heart of everyone at TTA as it has helped and supported one of our own members of staff after a family bereavement. That’s why we’re doing our bit to show our support and gratitude and raise as much as we can to help fund invaluable support for other families who will face these emotional difficulties.

Lauren and David are one of 23 competitors taking part in the day’s event. So far, the Skydive has raised £12,664 in donations collectively. Lauren and David have themselves so far raised £2,295 in pledges, and they would like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity.  It truly is a magnificent total, but there’s still time to contribute to this fabulous cause. If you would like to help and feel able to make a contribution, then please do because it will be greatly appreciated. It’s worth remembering two things: every donation, no matter how small, will help this fantastic cause, and by raising money for Once Upon a Smile you will be helping bereaved families who have suffered the pain and loss of a loved one, whether that be a parent or a child, in their time of greatest need.
