TTA staff to take part in Once Upon a Smile 2018 Sky Diving Challenge

Transport Training Academy staff members, Employment Engagement Officer, Lauren Scanlin, and managing Director, David Coupe, will be taking part in a charity Sky Dive in September in aid of the fantastic local charity, Once Upon a Smile. We always like to get involved with charities whenever we can, and show our support and solidarity; but that’s particularly true in the case of Once Upon a Smile – a Manchester-based charity providing emotional, practical and financial support to bereaved families at the time of their greatest need.

The help and support they’ve offered a member of our own staff and her children following a bereavement has been priceless, and we really can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done. The very least we can do to show our gratitude is offer our mutual support and to try to raise as much money as we can to help them continue providing their unique and invaluable services.

Once Upon a Smile was founded in 2011, by Daniel Jillings and Danny Miller to provide emotional and practical support to bereaved families after it became apparent that there was a lack of support for families after the death of a loved one.

The charity is the only bereavement charity in the UK to offer a variety of support to families through such a difficult time, when families are often left to grieve alone with little or no emotional help and support available. Without this support, bereavement can have a devastating impact on family life, particularly on the children.

Lauren and David will be taking part in the Once Upon a Smile Sky Diving Challenge later this year, and hope to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant charity. The event, which will be held on September 14th at Black Nights Parachute Centre in Lancaster will no doubt be challenging and a very scary prospect, especially as Lauren and David have never attempted anything like it before, certainly not from a height of 11,000 feet at least; but we know they will ‘rise’ to the challenge.

What we’re asking our clients and customers for is any support you can give to help us raise money for this wonderful charity. No matter how small the donation, it’s worth remembering two things: every little helps, and by raising money for Once Upon a Smile you will be helping bereaved families who has suffered the loss of a loved one, whether that be a parent of a child, in their time of greatest need.

If you would like to make a donation, then you can do so through the following Just Giving page –

Lauren, David and all members of staff at Transport Training Academy would like to thank you for your support.
