TTA directors attend the fantastic ‘Talent and Logistics’ conference in Telford

TTA Directors, David Coupe and Rachael Scanlin-Davis, were delighted to receive an invitation to attend the recent ‘Talent in Logistics’ conference. The event, which was supported and sponsored by industry-leading businesses who understand the importance of attracting, nurturing and retaining talent within the logistics sector, took place on June 21st and was held at the Telford International conference centre.

Talent in Logistics is a unique, annual conference and awards event, dedicated to the training, development, recognition and retention of the 2.2million-plus people working in transport, warehousing and logistics in the UK and Ireland. It’s the only conference and awards event completely dedicated to the exceptional training, learning and development professionals in the transport and logistics industries.

The conference agenda was designed to address some of the most important issues facing transport, warehouse, HR and training managers, as well as forklift and LGV driving instructors.  The agenda focused on relevant professional development sessions for the transport industry, and featured sessions that tackled the challenges around recruitment, safety, training and funding within the transport and logistics industries. One session covered ‘Forklift training myths – when to train, when not to train’, and was geared towards exploring and dispelling the common misconceptions about materials handling equipment training which could be costing businesses money, or exposing them to risk.

Discussions took place on interesting subjects like ‘The DVSA’s thoughts on the future of vocational training,’ ‘How to overcome resistance to Driver CPC’, ‘The Apprenticeship Levy – making it work for your business’, and ‘How to attract diverse talent to your business’. During the course of what was a very enjoyable and thought-provoking day debates and panel discussions were also held on areas which are apposite and relevant to the industry today: topics like ‘What will Brexit mean for training regulation in transport and logistics?’Why aren’t young people attracted to working in transport and logistics?’ and ‘Automation – what training is needed for the future?’.

David and Rachael had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the conference, and they would like to sincerely thank the organisers for arranging such a great event.
