TTA offer Logistic Apprenticeships in Partnership with Burnley College

TTA, one of the North West’s leading logistics training organisations, has a long and proven track record working with young people to realise their goals. Our success in delivering apprenticeships to prepare young men and women for a long and productive life in the industry speaks for itself. However, we are always searching for new ways to help to safeguard the future of the logistics industry and encourage more young people to find a job in the sector that’s right for them. So, we have now set up a partnership with Burnley College to deliver logistics apprenticeships (Driving Large Goods Vehicle and Warehousing) for businesses across the North West.

Why is a logistics apprenticeship a great choice for young people starting out on their career path?

Why should any young man or woman want to forge a career in logistics? Well, the answer is simple. Not only is the Logistics Industry thriving; it’s also a worthwhile and rewarding career with great prospects and greater wage growth than most other sectors. Most importantly of all, it’s sustainable.  The logistics industry is currently worth over £80 billion to the UK economy, and employs 2.3 million people across 196,000 businesses: in total that’s 1 in 12 of all the jobs in the UK. The Logistics Industry is critical in helping business efficiently store, supply and move goods around the country, and ensures that the right goods are always in the right place at the right time. All that’s needed to keep it functioning efficiently and effectively are dedicated and highly-trained employees.

However, the industry is also facing pressures. There is a shortage of skilled professional workers, an ageing workforce and an underrepresentation of females in the sector. Unless the logistics industry can attract, recruit and retain a new generation of skilled professional, the sector could potentially face severe problems in the future.

What’s the appeal of logistics apprenticeships?

The logistics sector is full of opportunities for young men and women who are willing to work hard and learn. Whether you’re looking for a practical job working with vehicles, jobs dealing with customers, behind-the-scenes jobs, jobs on the road, warehouse jobs or international jobs, the logistics sector has something to offer almost everyone.

Why choose a logistics apprenticeship?

The short answer to that is that our Driving Large Goods Vehicle and Warehousing logistics apprenticeships will best prepare you for a long and fulfilling career in the sector.  An pprenticeship training will not only arm you with practical skills and qualifications needed for a successful career in the sector, but also deliver more general employability skills which:

  • equip individuals with skills, knowledge and experience needed to undertake roles in a range of logistics sectors.
  • incorporate functional skills in Maths and English to improve the general literacy and numeracy basic skills to Level 2, and
  • develop an apprentice’s behaviours to build their confidence and creativity, improving their social and working lives.

Our range of logistics apprenticeships delivered in partnership with Burnley College can help to kick start your career and, most importantly of all, pave the way for a long and promising career in logistics. Male and female logistics apprentices who choose to follow this career path will be able to develop their skills and work their way towards a Class C Driving Large Goods Vehicles qualification, and ultimately a Cat C+E licence opening up further career opportunities in logistics and leadership in this growing sector.
