Use your logistics know-how and creative talents to transform one of TTA’s trucks

Ever considered a career in the logistics industry? Perhaps you’ve thought about it, but can’t really see yourself driving a truck? Maybe you feel the industry isn’t particularly suited to you and your skills and talents? Well, Transport Training Academy, one of the North West’s leading logistics training organisations, is hoping to change your opinion, and prove that there is room for all in the sector as long as you’re willing to work hard and learn.

The logistics industry is crying out for talented people and desperately needs new blood to keep the sector thriving, so Transport Training Academy is on a mission to encourage young people to consider logistics as a career. As part of this logistics drive, we have launched a new campaign – ‘Transform My Truck.’ Hopefully the Transform My Truck’ drive will attract more young people into the sector, raise awareness of the multitude of career opportunities available in the industry and hopefully go some way to dispelling many of the misleading myths and stereotypes that shroud this vibrant sector.

So what is ‘Transform My Truck’ all about? Well, it’s about addressing the skills gap currently affecting the industry, and encouraging young people to use their skills and imagination to transform the side of a blank 7 metre truck. How are we aiming to do this? Well, we’re asking pupils from schools across the North West to use their imaginations, knowledge and creative skills to draw or paint a design which shows the different forms of transport used to get goods from one location to another – the very essence of logistics. We’ve provided the blank canvas: now we’re asking young people to show us how imaginative and innovative they can be.

The competition is open to all school children in the region. Two winning designs will be chosen: one from the age category Under 12 and the other from the 13 to 16 age range. The two winning artists will not only have the satisfaction of having their design proudly displayed on one side of our truck, but will also win a £100 Amazon voucher and a grant of up to £500 for their schools. TTA will also be offering runner-up prizes in both categories: £50 worth of Amazon vouchers and a £300 school grant for second places, and £30 worth of Amazon vouchers and a £200 school grant for third places.

During the campaign Transport Training Academy’s blank truck will be visiting schools in the region. Contact us on, visit our Facebook page @TransformMyTruck or contact us on Twitter @TTAcademy1,  and one of our trucks will visit your school and give your pupils the chance to take part in an interactive workshop where they can learn more about the logistics sector and the varied career paths and opportunities within the industry.

The competition closing date is 11.59pm on Friday 23rd March. Judging will take place by 23rd April and the winners will be announced by 7th May. The winning designs will be unveiled later in the year.

To be in with a chance of winning this special prize, you’ll need to download the Transform My Truck picture template from our website and send your completed entries to:

Alternatively, you can scan your entry and email it to

with ‘Transform My Truck Competition’ in the subject header.

Don’t forget to include your child’s name, their age, as well as their school’s name and your contact number or email address, so we can contact you if they’re a winner.

So far we’ve made visits to schools in Blackburn and Bury, and maybe we will be coming to your area soon. Where will the Transport Training Academy truck visit next? Well, we don’t want to give the secret away, so we’ll give you a clue:

  • The bird in this city’s emblem/crest is holding a branch of laver seaweed in its beak.

Can you guess the location?
