TTA attends ‘Fantastic Futures’ event at Darwin Aldridge Academy School

TTA was delighted to be invited to attend Darwin Aldridge Academy last week as part of the school’s ‘Fantastic Futures’ event: one of a series of events that takes place throughout the year at the Academy which are aimed at informing, advising and guiding students on career choices. The event which was organised by Inspira, a leading North West career management and personal development organisation, whose remit is to inspire young people and help them fulfil their potential.

Darwin Aldridge Academy School runs the Fantastic Futures’ event for year 9 students, so that they are more informed and better able to make the right career choices when they finish their education. The aim of the courses is to inspire and raise the aspirations of 13/14-year-old students and bring them face-to-face with successful local people. They get to learn what career opportunities are out there for them in the local area, and what skills and qualifications they’ll need to pursue their chosen careers.

TTA Managing Director, David Coupe and DSA Instructor Julie Ann Kirkham, attended the event as male and female role models for the logistics Industry. They each gave a brief talk to the students about how they got into the logistics industry, followed by a quiz to establish what would, or was preventing them from choosing a career as a lorry driver. The winner of the prize draw will win a trip out in a lorry and a trip to a truck stop.

David and Julie Ann had a fantastic time at the Darwen Aldridge Academy and they would like to take this opportunity to thank the school for its kind invitation. Inspiring young people to fulfil their potential is a core belief at Transport Training Academy, so both David and Julie Ann were more than happy to spend the morning with the students. We work tirelessly to promote the logistics industry and hope the talk was helpful in encouraging both the boys and the girls to fully embrace the range of fantastic future opportunities that are available to them in logistics.
