TTA welcomes new Business Support Co-ordinator, Georgia Keane.

Transport Training Academy is delighted to welcome a new team member, Georgia Keane. Georgia joined us last week and will be working as our new Business Support Co-ordinator. In her previous role at Learn Direct, Georgia helped Job Centre clients find placement work: that experience should help her considerably in her new role here at Transport Training Academy. The team would like to extend a very warm welcome to Georgia, and look forward to working with her.

How is Georgia settling in? How is she enjoying her time at Transport Training Academy? Well, here’s what she had to say.

What’s your background?

“I used to work at Learn Direct. I did that for 3 years and enjoyed the job very much. My role there was to help pre-employment people get on placement work. I’d deal with people who’d been referred by the Job Centre for 4 week placements. I’d meet these people at their placements when they first started, and then help them out with fees for bus fares and that type of thing. During the course of their placements, I’d visit them every week, check on their attendance and monitor their training progress.”

Did you have any logistics knowledge or experience prior to joining Transport Training Academy?

“Not directly no, but I did occasionally come into contact with employers who worked in the sector.”

What’s your role at Transport Training Academy?

“I’m the Business Support Co-ordinator, which is pretty similar to what I did at Learn Direct, but obviously more logistics-oriented. My role will be to interview candidates and assess their suitability for the course. If they are right for the placement, I’ll get the candidates back in and sign them up for the course. After they’ve been on the course for about 4 weeks I’ll come back in and run a forum with them and get their feedback on how they’ve enjoyed the course and what they’ve learned from it, I will then work with them to get them in to employment.”

How are you finding working at TTA?

“I’ve only been here for a week, but I absolutely love it. It’s been really good and the team are great. Everybody’s been helpful and supportive, and the team works really well together. There’s not much more to say really: it’s just been good so far and I’ve enjoyed the experience.”
