TTA attends Burnley Business Week

Transport Training Academy is passionate about, and committed to, training and apprenticeships. As part of that commitment we always endeavour to and support, embed and promote equality, diversity and safeguarding in every part of our training. We also like to keep up-to-date with all procedural changes that affect the business of delivering apprenticeships.

To that end, representatives from Transport Training Academy recently attended the Burnley Business Week: a series of workshops and drop-in sessions with business experts hosted by Burnley’s Business Support Team. TTA representatives attended two very useful and informative sessions/workshops about the new Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Marketing. We found both sessions to be very useful and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We’d like to thank the local organisers, the Skills Funding Agency and 3Man Factory for delivering an interesting and thought- provoking event.

TTA attended the ‘Apprenticeship Levy: an Employer’s Guide’ session delivered by the Skills Funding Agency on April, 27th. During the workshop we heard about the recent changes to the national apprenticeship programme and the upcoming Apprenticeship Levy. As part of its ‘Productivity agenda,’ the government is committed to achieving three million apprenticeship starts by summer 2020. To that end, the government intends to introduce an Apprenticeship Levy from April 2017, and fundamentally change the way Apprenticeships in England are funded. As part of the levy, employers with a UK wage bill of over £3m from both the private and public sectors will be required to pay 0.5 per cent of that into a levy. The levy payment will then be ring-fenced in the form of an electronic voucher that can be used to purchase apprenticeship training.

Transport Training Academy also attended the Digital Marketing Strategy session delivered by Tom Stables of 3Man Factory on the 26th April. This session was all about developing your digital marketing strategy, focusing on setting your goals and objectives, finding the right audience, finding the right voice and language, social media advertising and measurement. We would sincerely like to thank Tom for delivering a fascinating session and opening our eyes to a world we hadn’t really appreciated to that point. The information, scope and delivery of the workshop were top notch, and we really can’t thank Tom enough.
