TTA ditches this year’s Secret Santa and pledges its support to Key 103’s Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas’.

In the run up to Christmas it’s all too easy to get carried away and many of us are guilty of spending purely for the sake of spending. Unfortunately as we increasingly buy into the creeping commercialisation of the festive celebration, we tend to lose sight of the issues that are truly important. Did you know, for instance, that 1 in 3 children are living in poverty in Greater Manchester? Statistics like that are shocking when you consider the relative wealth of the UK in global terms.

So Transport Training Academy, one of the North West’s leading training organisations, has decided to do something about it.

This year TTA will be supporting Key 103’s Mission Christmas. Why have we decided to participate?

Well, it’s simple really: TTA’s training programmes are underpinned by a commitment to the younger generation and embedding and supporting equality and diversity, so it’s only natural that we should want to participate in this laudable scheme.

We can’t change the world or right all the wrongs obviously, but we can do something and play a small part in making this Christmas a little bit more special for those who are often overlooked. So, instead of running our own Secret Santa this year, TTA’s staff will be supporting Key 103’s Cash for Kids initiative, and buying presents for disadvantaged local children.

So what exactly is the Key 103 Cash for Kids 2015?

Well, it’s an initiative where adults are encouraged to buy extra presents: presents that this year will be given to disadvantaged local children to make their Christmas morning special. Key 103’s’ ‘Mission Christmas’ scheme has been launched in partnership with The Manchester Evening News and is supported by B&M, UK Fast, Optegra and Mid Communications. TTA fully supports Mission Christmas and is delighted to be one of the many businesses who will be supporting this year’s Christmas campaign.

Key 103 is looking for new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0-18 years, which can be donated at a number of drop-off points across the region. If you, too, would like to contribute to this worthy cause, then there is still time to make a gift. The final date for dropping toys off at Mission HQ is 5pm on Friday 18th December.
